European Union in their rush to please the Islamic regime in Iran accepted Ahmadinejad’s election with a watered down concern about alledged electional (typos are from them) irregularities and then proceeded to even start to negotiate about nuclear issue with in the same statement! The even referred to Iranian people’s resistance as “violence that broke out “, not mentioning a word about the whose violence ? Iranians or the police brutality? As if they are giving the green light to Khamenei/ Ahmadinejad to put down the “violence”. France and Germany issued additional statements of concern. I supposed Mullahs still have good connection in Britain. What else can one expect of those who are making Sharia laws legal in their own countries!
The statement was made is such a FORCED POLITICAL RUSH that the words of the statement such as alledged, post-electional and possition was not even spell checked!
It is now up to president Barack Hussein Obama to show what he is made of.
In the words of the Wall Street Journal today: “….one unnamed senior Administration official to the effect that the election uproar would cause Mr. Ahmadinejad to be more receptive to Mr. Obama’s overtures as a sop to disgruntled public opinion. If the Administration really believes this, then Mr. Obama is the second coming of Jimmy Carter and the mullahs will play him for time to get their bomb. However, Mr. Obama has also stressed the importance of democracy, rule of law and transparency, most recently in the June 4 Cairo speech in which he addressed himself directly to the world’s Muslims, Iranian-Muslims included. Now the stand-off in Tehran will test — more quickly than Mr. Obama probably imagined — whether he was serious when he said “we will welcome all elected, peaceful governments — provided they govern with respect for all their people”.
EU statement:
“ The Presidency of the Council of the EU closely followed the course of the Presidential elections held on 12 June 2009 and notices Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was re-elected for the second term as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Presidency is concerned about alledged irregularities during the election process and post-electional violence that broke out immediately after the release of the official election results on 13 June 2009.
The Presidency hopes that outcome of the Presidential elections will bring the opportunity to resume the dialogue on nuclear issue and clear up Iranian possition in this regard. The Presidency expects the new Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will take its responsibility towards international community and respect its international obligations. “
